Foundations Services

Foundations are essential for transferring the load of a structure to the ground. They are broadly classified into shallow foundations and deep foundations, depending on the soil conditions and structural requirements. Here are the different types of foundations:

1. Shallow Foundations (For lighter structures, depth is less than width)

  • Strip Foundation - Strip Foundation is a shallow foundation consisting of a continuous strip of concrete used to support load-bearing walls. Strip Foundation is commonly used for buildings with moderate loads, as it evenly distributes weight across the ground. The design of a Strip Foundation depends on soil conditions and structural requirements, ensuring stability and durability
  • Pad Foundation – Pad Foundation is a type of shallow foundation that supports individual columns or pillars by distributing their load to the ground. Pad Foundation is commonly used for lightweight structures where soil conditions are stable. The size and thickness of a Pad Foundation depend on the load it needs to bear, ensuring stability and durability.
  • Raft (Mat) Foundation – Raft (Mat) Foundation is a type of shallow foundation that consists of a large concrete slab covering the entire building footprint. Raft (Mat) Foundation is used to distribute the structure's load evenly across weak or expansive soils, preventing differential settlement. Due to its strength and stability, Raft (Mat) Foundation is commonly used for high-rise buildings, industrial structures, and areas with poor soil conditions
  • Slab-on-grade – A slab-on-grade Foundation is a shallow foundation where a single concrete slab is poured directly onto the ground to support the structure. Slab-on-grade Foundation is commonly used in residential and commercial buildings, especially in areas with stable soil and warm climates. The simplicity and cost-effectiveness of a Slab-on-grade Foundation make it a popular choice for construction projects requiring a durable and low-maintenance base.
  • Trench Foundation – Trench Foundation is a type of shallow foundation where concrete is poured into a dug trench to support load-bearing walls. Trench Foundation is commonly used for small to medium-sized buildings due to its simplicity and cost-effectiveness. The depth and width of a Trench Foundation depend on soil conditions and the structural load it needs to support.

2. Deep Foundations (For heavy structures, depth is greater than width)

  • Pile Foundation – Pile foundations are deep foundation systems used to transfer loads from structures to deeper, more stable soil layers. Pile foundations are typically required when the surface soil lacks the strength to support heavy loads, such as in bridges, high-rise buildings, and offshore structures. Pile foundations can be made of concrete, steel, or timber and are driven or drilled deep into the ground to ensure stability and load-bearing capacity
  • Basement Foundation – A Basement Foundation includes an underground level, providing additional space for storage, living areas, or mechanical systems. A Basement Foundation is commonly used in residential and commercial buildings, especially in areas with cold climates, as it helps insulate the structure and protect
